Cathodic Protection System Testing / Structure-to-Soil Potential Surveys

The core of a CP survey: on-site structure-to-soil potential readings taken at the tank and piping system to verify the cathodic protection system is providing adequate corrosion protection. This is the measurement that tells you whether a system is actually working, not just installed.

Periodic Compliance Testing & the 3-Year Retest (TCEQ 30 TAC 334)

Recurring testing scheduled to your system's required interval under TCEQ 30 TAC Chapter 334 — most commonly the 3-year cathodic protection retest — so your facility stays compliant without guesswork about when the next test is due. Impressed Current Rectifier Inspections

For systems using impressed current cathodic protection, we inspect the rectifier to confirm it's operating correctly and delivering the output the system needs. If the rectifier itself needs repair or replacement, that's outside our scope — see below.

Note: federal rule 40 CFR §280.31(c) also requires impressed current rectifiers to be checked every 60 days — a separate, more frequent requirement from the 3-year full survey. See the Compliance / FAQ page for details.

Post-Installation CP Surveys

For newly installed UST systems, a post-installation survey establishes that the cathodic protection system is functioning correctly from day one and documents a baseline for future compliance testing.
